Description:

Join Frisco High School's Human Environmental Animal Team (H.E.A.T.)  in raising money for women in Ecuador through the WE Villages program!

WE Villages is an adaptive international development model built on two decades of working with communities and experts around the world. Poverty isn’t the result of one single cause. Therefore, their model is neither a single solution nor a handout. Instead, it’s based on five pillars: education, water, health, food, and opportunity. Each works in tandem to transform communities. Their definition of success: impact that lasts for generations.

Out of the entire population of Ecuador, 21.5 percent live in poverty (UN data, 2017). Although progress has been made, the Indigenous people still remain the ethnic group most affected by poverty. These communities have little access to education, clean water, economic opportunities, health care and the resources needed to maintain a nutritious food supply, thus preventing them from escaping the grip of poverty.

So our goal is to raise funds for the Opportunity WE Villages Pillar in Ecuador with your help! The Opportunity Pillar primarily supports and empowers women with the tools, knowledge, and opportunity to earn a livelihood so that they can take control of their futures. WE Villages helps facilitate lending circles, financial literacy, and business training for these women to generate a sustainable source of income and achieve financial independence.

Description:

Miracle Foundation brings life-changing care to orphaned and vulnerable children around the world. Today there are 8 million children living in institutions around the world. That is unacceptable. Ask any child and they will tell you that their biggest dream is to be part of a loving family — it’s where they thrive.

Miracle Foundation's "Child First" approach is multi-faceted, collaborative, and community-based:

80% of children living in institutions have a living relative. Miracle Foundation makes every effort to reunite these children with their birth family, if possible.

For abandoned children without family — Miracle Foundation's measurable, systematic method ensures that children are loved, educated, healthy and safe until they transition to a permanent family.

Miracle Foundation actively collaborates with governments, other non-profits and local family-strengthening organizations to transform systems and give children a voice.
